Ponds has been an integral part of the community for over 300 years. While the various roles of the church in the community have changed, Ponds continues to be a leader in serving the residents.

Worship

In worship, God’s people encounter the good news of a loving, grace-filled God. Drawing on rich traditions while discovering new practices and styles, people find encouragement and renewal through prayer, music, community, and relevant messages. Ponds is an open and affirming congregation working to ensure that worship is accessible and inclusive to all people of all ages.

What can I expect during worship?

You can expect genuine people seeking to worship in real, meaningful ways. People come as they are to offer their heart, mind, and body in worship to God. With the help of various worship leaders, the entire congregation participates.

Worship uses a variety of means to awaken the senses. At Ponds, you won’t find discussions about traditional or contemporary. We refuse to allow our talents to be pigeon-holed into confining categories. From the visual arts to drama to music, Ponds gives to God the best of what we have to offer, whether it be a great hymn, a folk song, children dancing, or someone speaking.

Messages are relevant and challenging. Throughout the year, various topics dealing with relationships, parenting, and other issues faced on a daily basis are addressed.

Sunday School

Each Sunday morning children learn God’s Story and participate in age-appropriate activities.

Youth Group

In partnership with Wyckoff Reformed Church, the Junior high and Senior high groups are a fun way to grow in life and faith. Each group typically meets Sunday evenings: Sr High is located at WRC from 7-8: 30 pm;  Jr High meets right here at Ponds from 7-8: 15 pm.

Jr High Youth Group is a crazy, silly, messy time of lessons and activities for middle school students to develop in discipleship. Throughout the year, students also engage in social gatherings and service opportunities to live out our faith.

Sr High Youth Group is a time of asking deeper questions of our faith as well as provide time for busy high schoolers to be together each week. Sr High also offers an annual summer mission trip for students to share the love of God with others through service including home repair, children’s summer camp, and building healthy relationships with those they’re serving.

GriefShare

GriefShare meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.

If you are in need of a community that understands how overwhelming life can be following the loss of the loved one, attending one or more of these sessions may give you the support you’re seeking. For more information please call 201-674-5544 or email Ron Petherbridge at rpetherb@gmail.com or Pastor Debbie, debbie@pondsnj.org.

Knitting Group

The knitting group meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

Join us each month and enjoy good conversation while we work on our craft. You don’t need to be a knitter to come – you can crochet, cross-stitch or just sit and chat.
